Outdoor monitors and Panel PCs must meet significantly higher requirements than standard industrial displays. Intense sunlight, rain, dust, moisture and large temperature fluctuations can quickly make a conventional monitor difficult to read, prone to failure or costly to maintain.
That is why JM elektronik offers Necesa outdoor monitors and Panel PCs, specifically designed for 24/7 operation in demanding outdoor environments. These solutions are used by OEM manufacturers, system integrators and companies designing self-service equipment and public infrastructure.

Monitors and Panel PCs for outdoor applications are used wherever equipment needs to operate reliably around the clock, regardless of weather conditions.
Typical applications include:
One of the biggest challenges when designing outdoor equipment is ensuring reliable operation over many years. In practice, this requires several technologies that eliminate the most common problems associated with standard monitors.

Long-term exposure to sunlight causes LCD polarizers to degrade.
This can result in:
UV Protection technology helps reduce this degradation, extending the service life of an outdoor monitor.
One of the technologies most commonly used in professional outdoor monitors is Optical Bonding.
Optical Bonding is an advanced technology in which the air gap between the LCD panel and the protective glass or touchscreen is completely filled with a special transparent adhesive. Eliminating this air gap significantly reduces external light reflections, resulting in excellent readability and higher screen contrast even in direct sunlight.
In practice, this process also significantly improves the mechanical strength of the display and effectively prevents fogging, moisture condensation and dust from entering beneath the glass, resulting in more stable touch operation across changing temperatures.
One of the most important parameters of an outdoor monitor is brightness.
Standard monitors typically offer 250–350 cd/m², which is sufficient only for indoor applications. In direct sunlight, the image can become almost impossible to read.
Necesa monitors can provide brightness levels of up to 1000 cd/m², ensuring good screen visibility even in strong sunlight.
In addition, the Auto-Dimming function automatically adjusts the backlight level to ambient conditions. During the day, brightness is increased, while after dark it is reduced, improving user comfort and lowering power consumption.
Outdoor equipment must operate reliably in both freezing winter conditions and high summer temperatures.
Necesa monitors are designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +70°C, making them suitable for applications running around the clock.
Equipment installed in public spaces is exposed to direct contact with dust, moisture and harsh weather conditions. The IP65 rating of the front panel makes the display completely dust-tight and resistant to heavy rain and water jets, providing full protection for the electronics from the user-facing side.
In practice, this enables safe and reliable operation in car washes, EV charging stations and public terminals, where high resistance to environmental conditions and easy cleaning are essential.
In advanced self-service systems and control cabinets, standard power supplies may be unstable or limited to specific power rails. A wide input voltage range of 9–36 V DC makes it easier to integrate the device into existing infrastructure without the need for additional DC converters.
For designers and system integrators, this means a simpler overall system architecture and improved tolerance to voltage fluctuations, which is especially important in installations powered by renewable energy sources or used in industrial environments.
Model names provide information about the technologies used in a particular device.
Example:
| NCS-M101-OF-HBWT-UVOB-R1 | ||||||
| Code | M101 | OF | HB | WT | UV | OB |
| Meaning | 10.1" monitor | Open Frame | High Brightness | Wide Temperature | UV Protection | Optical Bonding |
This makes it possible to quickly identify the device configuration directly from its model designation.
Necesa monitors are available in a wide range of screen sizes: 7", 8", 10.1", 10.4", 11.6", 12", 12.1", 13.3", 15", 15.6", 17", 17.3", 18.5", 19", 19.1", 21.5", 23.8" and 27".

The most popular sizes for outdoor applications are:
In addition to monitors, Panel PCs are also available with processors including:
Available configurations include:
Necesa offers several mechanical designs, allowing the monitor to be adapted to virtually any application.
Panel Mount installation involves inserting the device from the front into a prepared cut-out in the operator panel until the enclosure rests against the sealing flange. The device is then secured and pressed into place using dedicated mounting accessories installed from inside the enclosure.

This solution provides a high level of front-panel sealing, making it widely used in conventional control cabinets and industrial applications.
This design is intended for vending applications and self-service kiosks where the display surface needs to be flush with the front panel of the device. The monitor or Panel PC is installed from inside the enclosure and mounted against an internal frame surrounding the LCD panel.

This mounting method creates a smooth front surface, improving the overall appearance of the system while reducing the risk of mechanical damage and vandalism.
This mounting option is based on the universal VESA industry standard and uses a standardized arrangement of threaded mounting holes on the rear of the enclosure. It enables direct integration with a wide range of ready-made accessories, including articulated arms, wall mounts and dedicated stands.

It is an ideal solution for POS systems and information terminals where easy servicing and flexible screen positioning are key requirements.
This design has no external front bezel and is supplied as a module for direct integration into the final enclosure. The absence of a factory-installed front frame enables complete integration of the display with a custom front panel or protective glass forming part of the customer's final enclosure.

This is a key solution for OEM manufacturers designing advanced ticketing machines or custom multimedia terminals.
Selected configurations can be equipped with 4 mm vandal-resistant glass to increase the mechanical resistance of the device.
It is also possible to add a custom logo to the enclosure, which is particularly useful for OEM projects and devices manufactured under the customer's own brand.
All Necesa monitors and outdoor Panel PCs come with a 36-month warranty.
An outdoor monitor is designed to operate in direct sunlight, across a wide temperature range and in environments with high humidity. It also incorporates technologies such as High Brightness, Optical Bonding and UV Protection.
Yes. Necesa monitors are designed for 24/7 operation, including applications that run continuously for many years.
Yes. Depending on the application, resistive touchscreen, capacitive touchscreen and non-touch versions are available.
The right solution depends on the installation location, required brightness, environmental conditions, power supply and the required computer performance. For this reason, the configuration should be selected individually for each project.
Outdoor monitors must meet significantly higher requirements than standard industrial displays. Necesa outdoor monitors therefore offer key features including:
