In the Age of Digitalization, Data Security Protection Has Become a Key Challenge for Businesses and Users.
Kerlink, as a leading gateway manufacturer in Europe, places special emphasis on innovative solutions that ensure proper data protection.
Kerlink's Secure Environment Consists of Three Components: Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Wirnet iSeries LoRaWAN Gateways, and the Wanesy Management Cockpit (WMC) remote management platform. PKI authenticates gateways and servers using certificates, gateways integrate individual devices and establish secure connections with Kerlink services, and WMC enables remote management, monitoring, and servicing of gateways.
Protection Using Public Key Infrastructure
PKI is maintained and managed by Kerlink specialists. It is designed to meet the specific requirements of IoT. Connections to Kerlink services are secured with certificates, and the authentication of Kerlink gateways, servers, and users is guaranteed. In addition, PKI allows Kerlink teams to monitor the status of deployed resources (expiration, renewal).
Why Are Kerlink Wirnet iSeries Gateways Secure?
The gateway only boots with the original Kerlink firmware. The operating system complies with EN 303645 standards, is resistant to unauthorized interference, and is supported and maintained by Kerlink with periodic updates.
Keys are stored in secure memory sectors, provided by Trusted Execution Environment. All keys are unique to each gateway. They can be used by applications but cannot be read. The keys securing access to Kerlink gateways are factory-generated.
Integrated services include remote SSH access secured by keys or certificates, a fully configurable firewall, access to multiple VPN clients, and the ability to configure updates as automatic.
The connection to the remote management platform is secured by a certificate, and the gateway authenticates itself using it. The certificate is obtained and renewed by the gateway via a secure mTLS connection. Upon initial startup, the gateway is remotely configured, ensuring secure and automatic integration with the system.
Impact of Wanesy Management Cockpit on Security
The system monitors critical data, such as software versions, status, and certificate expiration dates. The user can be notified via an alert system if action is required. To maintain the highest standards, security system updates are issued.
The user remotely programs and updates their gateways, defining the configuration that will be automatically applied upon first startup. The service supports the maintenance of the LoRaWAN network in operational conditions, ensuring secure device management. The gateway is authenticated using a certificate, and all maintenance operations are protected by a secure mTLS connection.
Additionally, Kerlink's software is designed to securely handle large-scale LoRaWAN networks, including optimized fleet management operations.
Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty
Kerlink also offers a "Lifetime" warranty, which is valid until the end of production of a given model, and then for another 3 years after the official announcement of its lifecycle end. Gateways are available in our warehouse, and the manufacturer has no plans to discontinue any of them.
