The PC-2835 series of yellow LEDs from Edison Opto – a highly stable lighting solution dedicated to processes using photoresist materials, including semiconductor manufacturing.
In photolithography, photoresist materials are very sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light in the 350-450 nm range, which is why the use of lighting based on typical white LEDs is ruled out. When exposed to short-wavelength light (blue or violet), the photoresist may activate prematurely, become distorted or damaged, resulting in the production of defective patterns.

For this reason, in photolithography processes, for example, yellow light (typically emitting light with a wavelength of around 590 nm) is typically used to illuminate rooms, as it is designed to filter out wavelengths in the blue and UV spectrum.
Yellow general lighting is standard in clean rooms, as well as in factories in the following industries:
Until now, T8 and T5 fluorescent lamps with special phosphors or foil filters that give the light a yellow colour have been commonly used. However, these solutions have limitations: over time, the foils can age, peel off or lose their properties, which reduces spectral stability and increases the risk of process interference. The answer to these challenges are yellow LEDs based on blue chips, which offer a stable spectrum without the need for additional filters, while offering all the advantages of ‘standard’ white LEDs (efficiency, durability, operating temperatures).
In response to this need, Edison Opto has developed the PC-2835 0.2W yellow LED, optimised for the following key issues:
The use of Edison LEDs eliminates the need for filter films, which prevents problems associated with their ageing and flaking and allows the aesthetic appearance of lighting fixtures to be maintained.
Edison Opto LEDs not only improve uniformity and efficiency in the photolithography process, but also fit in with the idea of green production and ESG strategies.
The use of such LED solutions is also possible in other applications, especially those where ‘standard’ yellow LEDs have their limitations.

Edison Opto is a renowned LED manufacturer that has proven its expertise in building innovative LED components over the years. The company offers a wide range of LED components that meet the highest quality and safety standards in both general lighting applications and the automotive sector.
