CA9617 is a CMOS level-translating I²C/SMBus repeater designed for Fast-mode Plus (FM+) applications. It allows voltage translation between low-voltage buses operating from 0.8 V to 5.5 V and higher-voltage buses operating from 2.2 V to 5.5 V, while maintaining full functional compatibility with I²C and SMBus protocols. The device provides bidirectional buffering for SDA and SCL, enabling bus extension and isolation of voltage and capacitance domains.

CA9617 supports up to 540 pF at 1 MHz or up to 4000 pF at lower speeds, making it suitable for systems with long traces or many I²C slaves. It includes a high-active ENABLE input, 5-V tolerant pins, open-drain I/Os, clock stretching, arbitration support and powered-off high-impedance behavior. It is compatible with Standard-mode, Fast-mode, Fast-mode Plus, SMBus (including high-power mode), PMBus and multi-master systems.
