In modern electronic systems, SMD component temperature management is becoming increasingly important. Excessive heating of components such as power transistors, stabilisers or DC/DC converters can lead to a shortened service life or malfunction. Hitano has developed the HTJ series – Thermal Jumper Surface Mount Chip, which is a simple yet effective solution to the problem of heat dissipation in compact SMD systems.
Hitano HTJ SMD thermal bridges are used for effective heat conduction from components exposed to overheating, such as power transistors, voltage stabilisers and DC/DC converters. Thanks to their design, they dissipate heat energy from areas with high power density to cooler parts of the board, while maintaining full electrical insulation.
This solution increases cooling efficiency without the need for heat sinks or metallised vias, and galvanic isolation allows signals and power to be routed close to heat-generating components.
HTJ thermal bridges are made on an aluminium nitride substrate (dielectric), which has a very high thermal conductivity coefficient of 170 W/m·K.
Hitano HTJ SMD thermal bridges are ideal for use in switching power supplies, power converters, LED controllers, industrial equipment, and automotive systems where small dimensions, high reliability and high mounting density are required.
The HTJ series includes standard sizes corresponding to popular SMD components:
| Type | Size [cale] |
Thermal resistance Rt [°C/W] |
Conductivity Gt [mW/°C] |
Capacity [pF] |
Breakdown voltage [kVAC] |
| HTJ0603 | 0603 | 20 | 50 | 0,07 | >1,5 |
| HTJ0508 | 0508 | 6 | 160 | 0,15 | >1,5 |
| HTJ0612 | 0612 | 4 | 250 | 0,26 | >1,5 |
| HTJ1206 | 1206 | 16 | 63 | 0,07 | >3,0 |
| HTJ1225 | 1225 | 4 | 250 | 0,26 | >1,5 |
| HTJ2512 | 2512 | 16 | 63 | 0,07 | >5,0 |
They can be assembled automatically, in the same cycle as regular SMD resistors, which eliminates the need for additional mechanical components related to heat dissipation and galvanic isolation of such a heat sink.
The operating temperature range is from –55 °C to +155 °C.
Hitano HTJ SMD thermal bridges are components that enable designers to effectively manage temperature in densely packed electronic systems. Thanks to the combination of high thermal conductivity of aluminium nitride, galvanic isolation and ease of assembly, they are an attractive alternative to traditional heat sinks and metallised feedthroughs.
