We are pleased to announce the release of the new chipset by RedPine Signals. This American manufacturer of modules and integrated circuits has so far offered solutions with integrated WiFi (dual / single band) and Bluetooth and 802.15.4 (ZigBee PRO) in one housing. The next step has just been announced, introducing two product families to the offer, whose common feature is supporting:
RS9116 is available in two subgroups. The first, so-called n-Link works with operating systems. The manufacturer has guaranteed full support for Linux, Android (version 6 and newer) and Windows 10 IoT. Communication takes place via SDIO 2.0 or via a USB interface.
The second subgroup RS9116 is called WiSeConnect and is designed to work with microcontrollers. A characteristic feature is the placement of all protocols on the module. But the manufacturer also supports work in TCP Bypass mode, where we can "bypass" the TCP stack. Communication with the module is via SPI, UART, USB interfaces.
The second of the presented systems, the RS14100 has, in addition to the functionality of RS9116, an additional built-in Cortex-M4F controller for the client's application. The manufacturer has all this on one chip, thus setting new global trends. The smallest of the RS14100 modules is characterized by small dimensions: 4.6 x 7.8 mm (we remind you - on this surface the manufacturer placed Cortex-M4F, WiFi, Bluetooth and 802.15.4). The version with the antenna has only slightly larger dimensions: 5.8 - 7.8 mm. RS14100 are available in two versions of Flash memory for client applications: 1 MB or 4 MB.
