CA9548 from Sensylink Microelectronics is a low-voltage 8-channel bidirectional translating I²C/SMBus switch with an active-low reset input. It allows a single master to access any one or any combination of the eight downstream I²C/SMBus channels. The upstream SCL/SDA lines are fanned out to eight SCL0-7/SDA0-7 pairs, while an internal 8-bit control register provides flexible channel selection.

The active-low RESET pin enables recovery from a stuck bus condition by resetting the I²C state machine and deselecting all channels. Each channel can operate at different bus voltages (1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V) and communicate with 5 V devices using external pull-ups. The CA9548 supports I²C Fast Mode Plus up to 1 MHz, up to 8 slave addresses, 5.5-V tolerant inputs, noise filtering on SCL/SDA, and hot-swap capability. It also ensures glitch-free operation during power-up.
